When designing the new Babyliss T45 clipper, I wanted to solve a problem I’ve seen too often in the barber industry-tools that don’t complement the demands of barbers working all day. Too many clippers on the market prioritize the internal components over the comfort and functionality of the exterior. The result? Hard edges, heavy materials, and slippery finishes that strain your hand and wrist after hours behind the chair.
That’s why we set out to strike the perfect balance between performance and ergonomics. The inspiration for the T45’s shape came from two pivotal moments in my life.
When I was 13, I spent summers painting houses with my dad. My job? Rolling paint for hours, while he finished the details with a spray gun. I learned quickly how important an ergonomic paint roller was-when you’re working all day, the wrong tool can take a serious toll on your wrist and hand.
Fast-forward years later, and I was creating UA-cam content to help barbers sharpen their skills. Editing for hours on a trackpad was brutal on the wrist, so I switched to a mouse-and the ergonomics made all the difference.
These experiences inspired the silhouette of the T45-a clipper that feels natural in your hand, minimizes strain, and elevates your cutting experience. Every detail was intentional, right down to the lever, which often gets overlooked but is critical for precision.
